OUR DIRECTOR

Andrew Matis

Andrew never set out to be an Accountant. Completing a bachelor of laws & a bachelor of commerce at UQ he had aspirations of being a big city lawyer. However, he soon realised that the ‘real world’ of legal practice was a very different picture to the one painted by modern TV shows.

While searching for a new career path he started helping out around his father’s accounting practice in Ipswich. Soon after, the ATO launched an aggressive high stakes tax audit against one of his father’s clients.  The opportunity presented for him to draw upon his legal qualifications to help put together a winning case.  

On that day Andrew came to realise how just one misinterpretation of tax law or one step off course by a client could have catastrophic consequences to their after-tax wealth.  And from that day forward, he became obsessed with taxation law and helping clients maximise their after-tax wealth.
Fifteen years later, Andrew still has the same passion for tax and client outcomes.
